We are excited to announce that a partnership is now in place with Lighthouse Infrastructure, which will help us to increase the delivery of new housing projects and more purpose-built quality Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) in inclusive communities.
Lighthouse Infrastructure is a leading institutional investor in SDA, having first invested at scale in 2018. Lighthouse Infrastructure has continued its commitment to the sector, having invested in more than 180 SDA properties across 73 locations in Australia, providing homes for up to 400 people. This experience has reinforced the importance of providing high-quality SDA options and effective management of accommodation to achieve the best outcomes for people living with a disability.
Since 2019, IHA has curated an SDA portfolio of 34 dwellings across 6 locations, providing homes for 53 people and has a current development pipeline of 11 dwellings, which will house 27 people.
The partnership between IHA and Lighthouse Infrastructure will also involve the establishment of a dedicated development company focussed on the delivery of new SDA, Cura Ability Developments.
We are aware of the challenges people are facing in securing appropriate, accessible, and high-quality SDA across Australia. This partnership is intended to be positive for the people we support and the disability sector as we work to address the gap in supply with fit-for-purpose accommodation, embedded in local communities. The establishment of Cura Ability Developments will pave the way for the growth in the design, supply and management of a new age of high quality, inclusive housing for people with disability in Australia.
We appreciate the IHA community’s ongoing commitment to our vision of transforming lives. We will keep you updated and informed about this transition as we continue to grow.
We bring to your attention that Mark Lawler, who has led IHA since its establishment, will now lead Cura Ability Developments. He will focus on delivering new SDA to satisfy the needs of our clients. Laura Green has joined IHA to lead IHA, our service delivery and disability service partner relationships.
We assure you that the support team at IHA will remain in place, and there will be no changes to the housing or services we provide.
