When looking for her accommodation, it was important to Helen and her family that she had a safe and secure place to live with appropriate supports.<\/p>\n
Before working with IHA, Helen and her family found that there were limited appropriate options available for her needs. Helen’s family worked with the NDIA and Helen’s support coordinator and support providers to ensure her NDIS plan would support Helen in achieving her life goals. IHA supported this process and provided an SDA option enabling Helen to achieve her goal in finding SDA to suit her needs.<\/p>\n
The team at IHA provided continuous assistance and support to Helen and her family. They held regular meetings with Helen and her family prior to Helen’s move and followed up once she moved in to ensure everything was going well for her.<\/p>\n
“Helen needs to be independent in her new environment, have more activities to do, a garden to walk in and to be able to do some cooking for herself were most important to her. The IHA team made sure her new home enabled this to happen”. Helen’s Family<\/p>\n

IHA understands the complexities of the NDIS and were willing to assist in any way they could to ensure the move into her new home ran smoothly.<\/p>\n
Now that she is settled into her new accommodation, Helen is enjoying more freedom and friendship with a good roommate and also enjoys doing artwork with her family when they come to visit her regularly. She is also accessing a Day program and is participating in Achieve Australia’s Sewing Basket program. Helen’s new lifestyle has meant she can now enjoy a new sense of independence by attending community events such as movies and cooking casseroles (because she can put anything in them!) and helping with her washing. She looks forward to being able to go for a walk in the garden and going to the local club.<\/p>\n
Helen’s new accommodation has meant she has more time to enjoy the things she loves such as listening to some ABBA or watching a daytime movie or British crime on the TV.<\/p>\n
